Enhancements
A new system property "embotics.placement.destinationQuotaFirst" (boolean) was added. The default value is “false”.
When the "embotics.placement.destinationQuotaFirs" system property is set to “true”, priority is given to destinations based on the availability of resource and cost quotas. Destinations lacking quotas are downrated. This setting is designed to optimize resource consumption and costs for the highest-rated destinations.

Selecting recommendation types from the Service Portal no longer fail and the user session is not terminated.
Scheduled reports now send emails with the configured body text when only the “Attach report as PDF/CSV“ option is selected.
When deployment requests are submitted through the Commander REST API, the destinations are now properly selected.

You can now add Custom Resources to Commander. Custom Resources can be used to define and manage IT resources and services that are not associated with cloud accounts supported by Commander. These can include both virtual and physical objects such as VMs and services from unsupported cloud platforms, physical servers, network devices, and any organizational assets that require visibility. Upgraded Apache Tomcat to version 9.0.84. The HTTP response code was changed as a response to a Blind SQL Injection test. Some security scanning tools may identify this as a vulnerability, as described in Nessus/42424. Note that it has been investigated and tested, and does not pose a security risk, as SQL scripts cannot be injected and executed.

Due to Microsoft’s deprecation of Azure Enterprise Agreement Reporting APIs, Commander 9.6.0 has introduced a new method for retrieving Azure billing data. It is required you switch to this new retrieval method, which offers improved accuracy of your billing data. Commander now supports custom images from Azure compute galleries. For more information on this preview feature introduced in Azure, see What's new for Azure Compute Gallery.
All compute gallery images are displayed as templates in Commander. Only those defined with a Standard security type can be deployed from Commander. Compute gallery image versions can be configured with a data disk that uses a snapshot as its source; these data disks are disregarded in Commander's template definition.

As of Commander 9.5, it is required that all Service Portal users be members of at least one organization. Existing Service Portal users who were not members of an organization will be automatically moved to a default placeholder organization after upgrading. Enhancements
RESTv3 API enhancement
Commander administrators can now use REST v3 API calls to generate the most recent daily and month-to-date cost totals for all resources owned by an organization. The new endpoint is /organizations/{name}/costs
.
Other
Commander administrators can now provide organizations access to multiple external webpages in the Service Portal menu. For more information on configuring external pages, see Create Organizations.
Corrections
The REST v2 organizations/{orgId}/quotastats
endpoint now reports the difference between an organization’s quota limit and their actual resource usage instead of reporting the remaining available quota. When an organization’s actual resource usage exceeds their quota limit, the quota statistics will now return a negative value representing the difference, where previously the remaining available quota was reported at a value of zero.
Kubernetes resource data now loads successfully in the Service Portal.
vRouter files that track the VM ID are now cleaned when a VM from a fenced service is deleted.
When Commander administrators enable and subsequently disable per-tier storage quotas, the per-tier quotas no longer persist and no longer produce false warning messages in the Service Portal.
Java Virtual Machine (JVM) default memory settings have increased, and these settings are retained on upgrade. The initial heap size is now 512MB, and the maximum heap size 8GB.
Upgraded Apache Tomcat to version 8.5.89. The upgrade addresses security vulnerabilities.
When tag export is enabled, Commander now sets metadata tags on the resource group when deploying an ARM template.

Enhancements
Commander has made a number of security improvements to align with industry standards.
Product optimization now allows Commander to maintain high performance when managing multiple or more complex cloud accounts, improving cloud account inventory processing and billing record retrieval speeds.
To secure against possible brute force attacks on local user accounts, Commander has implemented a limit on the number of unsuccessful login attempts permitted before a user account is temporarily disabled. This preference is automatically enabled for new installations. To manually enable it after upgrading Commander, see Change sign in preferences for all users.
Datastore scanning has been optimized to improve system performance by scanning file details for out-of-inventory VMs only.

Commander correctly reports VM deployment state if deployment from Azure Public image encounter non-critical error.
The Cloud Billing Report has been updated to allow for 15 advanced filters.
The vRouter root password has been changed. New vRouters deployed with Commander version 9.4 or later will use the updated root password. For any existing vRouters, the root password will remain unchanged.
