Enhancements

  • Oracle Database Enterprise Edition options usage interpretation is being implemented. For the first time, additional information regarding the database options usage interpretation are being provided within the Database -> “Options used” section of the UI. These group of information are structured in a way to increase the detection transparency regarding the database options usage, and by that, the needed licenses.

  • Up to 3 PDBs without multitenant license Oracle Database 19c will now allow up to 3 pluggable databases without the need of a multitenant license.

  • Recognition of Oracle Database 19c installation and edition is now added.

Corrections

  • Improved detection of In-Memory option usage. The option will not be triggered as used if the INMEMORY_SIZE database parameter is equal to 0 (04417645).

  • Improved detection of Partitioning option usage. The Oracle Scanner will now detect empty table partitioned segments (04356535).

  • Improved detection of Multitenant option usage in case of removed pluggable databases.

Corrections

  • LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable is now set during the scan, which fixes SQLPLUS connection issues in cases when the variable is not set for the users that are running the database instance.

  • An issue with setting temp folder group ownership under the AIX operating system is now fixed (04364714).

Corrections

  • Improved the detection of a valid ORACLE_HOME path using SQLPLUS. The scanner will now use the ORACLE_HOME variable from the running process, in case the process current working directory (CWD) is not a valid ORACLE_HOME path (PRB0043159).

  • The scanner will now support hostnames of up to 64 characters in length (PRB0043104).

  • In case of RAC or RAC One Node environment, only one of those will be marked as installed, instead of both, depending on the number of nodes that are configured (PRB0043053).

Corrections

  • An issue with detecting the ORACLE_HOME variable when running on the Windows operating system has been corrected (PRB0042118).

  • Oracle Scanner now correctly executes in a context where the user name contains non-ASCII characters, including localized names for the Local System account in Windows (PRB0042388).

  • Improved the detection for the options Spatial and Graph, Active Data Guard, Real Application Cluster, and Real Application Cluster One Node (PRB0042087).

Enhancements

  • Discovery of the ORACLE_HOME for running Oracle Database instances has been enhanced to avoid manual configuration of an oratab file or the ORACLE_HOME variable for each database instance.

  • Oracle user credentials are no longer passed to sqlplus on the command line.

  • Initial checks are now carried out on a server to determine if Oracle databases are present. If not, no scanning takes place, improving the response time for Windows environments.

  • Logging for configuration issues has been improved.

Corrections

  • Error handling for NullPointerException when aggregating Options has been improved so that inventory of Oracle databases is no longer incomplete.

  • Multiple item entries are no longer reported for a database if the scan of another database generates errors.

  • Debug mode no longer generates corrupted .snowpack files

  • Logging of syslog can now be enabled and disabled using the Syslog setting in the logging section of the agent configuration file – applicable for Snow Inventory agents for Unix and Linux.
