Data Update Job

The Data Update Job (DUJ) is a daily recurring batch job in Microsoft SQL Server. It is used for transferring, transforming, and normalizing new and updated Snow Inventory data to SAM Core on Snow Atlas.

By default, the Data Update Job starts at 09:00 PM. Users are able to access and work with inventory assets while the Data Update Job runs. However, if a specific page or area is momentarily being processed by the Data Update Job, it will temporarily be inaccessible to the users. Any user who tries to access such a page or area will be informed that their data is temporarily unavailable. Also, report generation can be affected by the Data Update Job since report data is collated from many different parts of SAM Core.

The main reason for restricting user access while the Data Update Job runs, is to prevent inconsistent data from being presented and to prevent users from making critical business decisions based on incomplete data.
