IP policies

Setting your IP policies allows you to control the IP addresses that are permitted to access your Snow Atlas system.

In IP policies, you list the IP addresses that are permitted to access your Snow Atlas system. Any IP addresses that are not listed and enabled are denied access. If someone tries to access your Snow Atlas system from an IP address that is denied access, a message appears informing them that their IP address is denied access, and they must sign in from an approved IP address.

note

A user is also denied access if they lose their VPN connection, or change location so that they are no longer using a permitted IP address. They are then prompted to sign in from an approved IP address.

When you add your IP policies, you must ensure that you include your current IP address to prevent being locked out of your Snow Atlas system.

You must enable an IP policy to apply your access restrictions. Only IP addresses included in IP policies that are enabled are permitted access. All other IP addresses are denied access to your Snow Atlas system, including IP addresses in an IP policy that is disabled.

You can add single IP addresses or IP address ranges in CIDR notation. Adding an IP policy with IP addresses allows you to group the permitted IP addresses, for example, into a list of all the permitted IP addresses for an office or facility in your organization.

Limits

There are limits on the maximum number of entities related to IP policies, which are permitted for each Snow Atlas system.
